Success Tips - Learn from the best

Learn from the best

Dr. Rekha Shetty, Author and Innovation Consultant

India is the innovation capital of the world in the sense that when you make a product keeping in mind the preferences of the Indian masses, it is taken up by people all over the world. The idea was to extract principles of innovation from their experiences. Indian CEOs are innovative in a different way because they work with limited resources; we don't have everything we need so we have to find new ways to do things.  The innovation mantras like 'dream bing', 'work hard' and 'go where none have gone before' are found in every book and almost in every pep talk.

"Indian CEOs are innovative in a different way because they work with limited resources; we don't have everything we need so we have to find new way to do things."

These things have been said before but these examples illustrate how to go about doing them. For instance - the mantra from Murugavel Janakiraman, CEO, Bharat Matrimony, is just 'Try new things', but the case study illustrates just how many things he tried before he got it right."

Author and innovation consultant Rekha Shetty talks about her latest book on CEOs and their experiences entitled "Innovation Secrets of Indian CEOs" - compilation of the experiences and methods of 50 Indian CEOs. The idea of publication was to extract principles of innovation from their experiences.

Rekha recommends the book for youngsters entering the corporate world. She said "I like to think of an India which is solution-oriented, not execuse orineted. Anyone can innovate but to innovate consistently and implement the ideas is the challenge. This book will teach to do that.

Rekha was the also the author of "Innovate Happily", "The Happiness Quotient" and several other books on the subject of innovation.
